What do women want for Christmas? The answer shouldn’t surprise you: it’s diamonds! A 2012 survey of 625 households conducted by American Express Publishing and Harrison Group found that 30 percent of women wanted fine jewelry for the holidays.
Gift cards were another hot ticket item, desired by 34 percent of the women surveyed. About 27 percent of the men surveyed said they had intentions to buy the women in their lives jewelry, so it seems couples were on the same page.
Diamonds symbolize love and commitment, but they need not be relegated for a mate. Diamonds make thoughtful gifts for daughters, nieces, mothers, grandmothers, granddaughters, and best friends, too.
Women buy themselves diamonds
It’s no longer taboo for women to buy their own jewelry, whether they’re in a committed romantic relationship or not. Two years ago, the NY Observer reported that many women were, in fact, buying themselves diamonds during the holiday shopping season. To celebrate their independence, working women are treating themselves to decadent gems “to have something to show for all their hard work and professional accomplishments.”
Christmas diamond trends
Several 2015 diamond trends prevailed during Black Friday sales events across the country, according to National Jeweler magazine. Pandora diamond bracelets, Alex & Ani, and comparable layered bangles are flying off the shelves, jewelers report from coast to coast. You needn’t spend a lot of money to give a gift of gold or silver-plated, colored stone bracelets with diamond accents that speaks to a woman’s distinctive personality. With over 200 options for personalization, Zable Beads has been a hot seller in our store.
It’s also the most popular season for engagement ring shopping. Forevermark Diamonds are said to be tremendously popular, thanks to their autumn marketing campaigns, appearances on the Red Carpet, and well-known reputation for beauty, quality, and ethical sourcing.
Yoni Diamonds are another known brand synonymous with quality. Our Bergen County jewelry store specializes in GIA-certified diamonds that meet recognized standards for clarity, color, cut and carat.
Watches are another affordable way to sneak diamonds into a jewelry purchase. Tissot luxury watches have been very popular this season, jewelers report, but F. Silverman carries a number of brands and rare timepieces to choose from. Two-tone watches featuring both silver and gold have become a classic jewelry box staple, as they blend seamlessly with any outfit or jewelry color scheme.
Pink is still the rarest and most popular of the colored diamonds, jewelers tell the NY Observer. However, mahogany diamonds seem to be the trending color in recent years. Larger white, yellow and brown diamonds can be procured for a smaller price than a petite pink diamond, so jewelers believe that is driving the demand as well. We carry diamonds in every color of the rainbow to suit individuals preferences and budgets.
In addition to these trends, you can always find a beautiful pair of diamond earrings and pendant necklaces, too.
