Joan Rivers Jewelry Auction
You can expect nothing less than extraordinary from the jewelry collection of the former co-host of the E! celebrity fashion show Fashion Police.
Joan Rivers’ private collection of accessories is for sale online from June 16 to 23. If you live in NYC, you can also attend a live Christie’s auction June 22. The “crown jewel” of the collection is a rare jeweled and gold-mounted nephrite study of a lily of the valley leaf, valued from $200,000 to $300,000.
Joan was a lover of brooches
Among the collection are a plethora of gemstone brooches, including a silver, sapphire and diamond brooch by Fabergé expected to fetch between $70,000 and $90,000. Another stunning pin made from gold, platinum, aquamarine and diamond will likely sell for $40,000 to $60,000. Some of the 81-year-old’s pendants are true vintage pieces, dating back to 1908. The lowest cost brooch for dibs is an enamel and emerald bee for $600 – $800. Antique art nouveau flower brooches featuring painted enamel and cultured pearls are expected to fetch up to $1,500.
Necklaces offer timeless elegance
If you’re looking for a hot deal, you can get one of Joan’s single-strand cultured pearl necklaces for as little as $150. On the other hand, the collection also includes a multi-strand seed pearl and diamond necklace valued at $3,000. You’ll find simple understated designs – like a simple aquamarine and gold necklace expected to go for $800 to $1,200 – as well as a bolder yellow metal fringe necklace accented with cultured pearl, aquamarine, glass and rhinestones with matching earrings for $1,500. Another high-end item is the ruby, emerald and amethyst bead necklace by Iradj Moini expected to sell for $15,000.
Get the looks for less
As TODAY Style points out, you needn’t drop thousands of dollars to get Joan’s fashionable looks. For instance — rather than investing in rubies, pearls, diamond and gold — you could opt for a simpler tassel-style necklace made from glass beads and colorful fabric for your summer BBQ.
For a wedding, you could go for a simple strand of fresh water pearls – without the diamond accents. You can dazzle at that important evening function with a piece from Norman Covan if you can’t get your hands on Joan’s Iradj Moini amethyst and rhinestone teardrop necklace.
